KCCU hosted a food drive in celebration of National Canned Food month. We invited our members, team, and community to bring nonperishable food items to any branch location during the month of February. We are excited to announce the food drive was a great success and will have an immediate impact on the local communities.

Since the pandemic started, food banks and pantries have consistently seen an increase in demand. KCCU took notice to this and wanted to live out their mission of people helping people. By partnering with local charities, KCCU strives to make their communities stronger by providing support for those experiencing food insecurity.

KCCU collected over 560lbs of food and pledged $500 to the South Michigan Food Bank, serving southern counties of Michigan, and $500 to Feeding America West Michigan, which serves the Western and Northern counties of Michigan.

With food banks heavily relying on assistance from volunteers to package and prepare food donations, KCCU team members stepped up to also volunteer time at the South Michigan Food Bank. Through our food and monetary donations, as well as volunteer effort, we provided a total of 6,669 meals to those in need.
